Part 1 of 3 in my series on the history of garage doors. I will be covering things such as the early developments in garage doors and some dangers posed by garage door openers.

The garage space was originally meant for the mundane but utilitarian purpose of providing a safe shelter for your car. However, nowadays the use of the garage is not limited to just providing a cark parking space. Not just the car but also the various tools and equipments needed for routine maintenance work around the house can be stored in this space. These springs need to be precisely adjusted to prevent premature burnout of the motor of the door opener. However, professional help must be sought at all times for adjusting the springs. There have been innumerable reports of cases where homeowners have sustained serious injuries while trying to adjust the door springs and the attached cables. When the door is closed, the springs are in a stretched state and this is a very dangerous situation. The cables that are connected to the springs are subject to enormous strain. If anyone tries to loosen any hardware attached to the spring of the cable, fatal consequences can occur.
